    1. The most gory and the darkest representation of any incident of The Mahabharat I have ever read . The book focuses on the darkness and the legacy of madness created by the war of Kurukshetra , and if looked at at a broader perspective the book focuses on the evil itself called as - war . The best things I find about the book is that the author ruthlessly and mercilessly has shown every character fallen , driven by revenge , anger and madness , every character is destroyed and is at a stage where [...]

    2. Bharti, my friends, has given us in 'Andha Yug' a thought provoking mixture of mythology (tweaked) and dire existentialism of a post World War 2 time. Bharti is obviously inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre. In fact, reading 'Andha Yug' evokes memories of Sartre's creations, in which he propunded existentialism through Greek tragedies. The drama in 'Andha Yug' begins around the known themes of Mahabharata but quickly diverges into more existential themes, ending with the solid supposition that in a wor [...]

    3. An iconic interpretation of the last days of Mahabharata. The dialogues are inspiring and heart wrenching at the same time. The pieces are cleverly managed and well rendered. Over a weekend read it aloud to yourself with emotions and those emotions shall overwhelm you.

    4. One of the essential plays in Hindi, written in 1954, Dharamvir Bharati's 'Andha Yug' is undeniably a classic of modern times. Opening on the eighteenth day of the Mahabharata war, it brings up the pathos of a war torn society and its moral defeat. Examining the questionable nature of Dharma, of fate being singularly driven by one's Karma or actions, and the fragility of being a God in the Age of Visionless warriors, 'Andha Yug' becomes an allegory for society where collective defeat is the only [...]
