    1. It is definitely a good book. I did not know all these details about Ayurveda before. It just gets too technical at times.


    2. Dr. Svoboda is an eloquent and generous writer with all the leanings of a poet. He weaves history and experience with the grace of a novelist. It is apparent from his teachings that he has absorbed the larger philosophical tenets of Ayurveda and speaks beyond the mechanistic approaches of biomedicine. The book is scant with direct recommendations and only a few mentions of formulas and herbs are to be found but what he gives the reader is greater: a theory of medicine/living.     3. Really interesting introduction to Ayurveda. Beautiful explanations of a holistic and wholistic philosophy. Really broadened my world view and added to my life philosophy that everything and everybody is connected.


    4. in a word: thorough. Not for the beginner for sure, but for those who are interested in deepening their knowledge of Ayurveda, it's great. I love the descriptions of different foods and their uses. This book also contains information that's rare to find in other Ayurveda books. Worth reading.
