    1. Kate is the last of her kind, a mermaid. She's lived for three hundred years on land since the loss of her entire clan of mermaids to a disease. Moving back near her home she knows that her time is about out and just want to be near her underwater home until then. Cooper is an artist who has moved back into his childhood home after he finds out that he has cancer and there isn't any hope left for him. He vows to paint each sunset and sunrise during his remaining days overlooking the lake where h [...]

    2. The surf lapped over my feet, sea foam tickling my toes. It was early summer, but the lake water was still icy. I closed my eyes and felt the cool waves. In the deep of winter, when the lake would freeze, we always sheltered on one of the small islands that dotted Lake Erie. The humans in those days had called us lumpeguin. Sighing deeply, I opened my eyes and looked down at the rocky shoreline. “There you are,” I whispered, bending to pick up a piece of green beach glass. I lifted it and lo [...]

    3. Kate is the last mermaid of her kind on Lake Eerie due to a disease that wiped out her kind 100 of years ago. Kate did what she could and burnt her kind and buried them. What happens now when a group of archaeologists finds the burnt remains and the artifacts of her time? Cooper is back in Lake Eerie and living in his house that once belonged to his Grandmother. He only has a few months to live as he is dying as is Kate who knows that the last tear she sheds will be the end of her life as a merm [...]

    4. Every summer I spend a week at a cottage on an island on Lake Erie with good friends from work. A couple of them spend hours looking for beach glass, specially first thing in the mornings and evenings then share their finds with the rest of us. Combine this with the fact that while I love fairy tales, the Little Mermaid has always been my favourite. Not however the Disney version, no the real version with it's sad, sad ending is the one I mean. So, continuing the two streams of thoughts, when I r [...]

    5. 4.5 starsThe Glass Mermaid is a novella about Kate, the last mermaid. She lives on the shore of Lake Eerie collecting pieces of glass washed up by the lake and making them into beautiful jewellery. In the same town lives Cooper, an artist who is dying of cancer and who has come back to the town he grew up in to die. The Glass Mermaid was a quick read, but the author has managed to create two characters who I ended up really rooting for. It’s told from a dual POV and it was lovely to watch Kate [...]

    6. The Glass Mermaid is one of the most beautifully written books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. This novella is told from multiple perspectives of two lovely characters, neither of which are looking for love. Yet, both of which are desperate for love. Kate is the last mermaid of a Lake Erie sea kingdom. Cooper has moved in to his late grandmother's home to spend his remaining days painting the gorgeous Lake Erie sunrises and sunsets.I enjoyed learning about the fate of Kate's family and why [...]

    7. This was a quick novella. The writing was very well done. The images were written beautifully and I loved "seeing" how everything looked in the story. A writer is amazing when they can write their imagery and make you see it how they wanted you to see it. I love when that happens. Kate was amazing the last mermaid who makes amazing jewelry and falls in love with a man who is dying. This tale is told from both of their pov's and it is interesting to see what is happening from both characters. I w [...]

    8. Kate is a mermaid and is the last. She buried her (mermaid) family decades ago. She lives as a human, collecting beach glass to sell, and hasn't been in the water for a 100 years. Cooper was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He opted to move back to his childhood home. He notices Kate on the beach. This was nice, short and sweet. The epilogue was important, otherwise I would have thought this had a completely different ending. A little more explanation would have been nice, but considering the leng [...]

    9. The Glass Mermaid by Poppy Lawless is the best short story I've ever read or listened to. Even though the audiobook clocked in just shy of two hours, I'm still thinking about this complete story a few days after finishing it. The epilogue is simply amazing! The story centers around Kate who is a 400 year old mermaid living on the shores of Lake Erie. Kate has lived most of her life alone after all of her family and entire mermaid village succumbed to some sort of plague brought to this country wh [...]

    10. Poppy Lawless may be a new name in Indie publishing, but her writing style feels so warm and comfortable, like she's been at it for years! In the span of a short story, she managed to tell such a full story, a perfectly sweet romance. <3The chapters switch back and forth between the two main characters, Kate and Cooper. In fact, there aren't many secondary characters at all, but you hardly notice their absence. We're told right away that they're both running short on time; Cooper is dying of [...]

    11. STORY REVIEWThis was an amazingly sweet beautiful story. I was really happy with how the story ended. If I was to complain about it in anyway it would be that I wished it was longer. It would have been nice to learn more about her peopleDIO REVIEWI found the narrator to be very good at reading the book as well as giving the characters life and voice.*****This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot [...]

    12. Finally found a decent mermaid story! Great character development and held my interest. I wished it was longer!! Lol I want more mermaid action! Still great story though for a quick read. The ending nearly gave me a heart attack but glad that wasn't it! I like this author and will start following to see what else she has up her sleeve.

    13. poppy lawless is very talented. In such a short time frame she made me fall in love with and care about 2 characters. At first j was really confused how this story was going to end and how it would ever be okay and then I saw the light tear whatever I don't wanna spoil it for anyone but it was so sad and then ended happy. loved loved loved it!

    14. What a hauntingly beautiful story. The storyline was absolutely stunning and breath taking and the characters were mesmerizing. I was swept away by it and I know you will be too! Looking forward to reading more of the author's books.

    15. This is such a heartwarming and beautiful tale. One of those stories that saddens you but yet in the same breath brings a smile to your face. I will be checking out more of the novellas in this series.

    16. When I first started this I was worried about where it was going. Thankfully it was a happy ending. Yes, this was a short book but it was very enjoyable. I did feel bad for both Kate & Cooper. They were the only ones left in their families. So, it was nice that they found each other.

    17. Sweet & touchingThis light read focuses on the important things in life. A nice, quick read with the ending I was hoping for.

    18. Great storytelling Loved the story. I was able to fall in love with the characters, even if it was a short one.

    19. Quicky read, not even 100 pages. I enjoyed it a lot. I would love to knowor what the mermaids back story iswhat Katie's life was before the terrible thing that happened to her people.

    20. Great novellaI really liked this novella. The characters came to life quickly. My only complaint would be I would want it longer. But then again it told a full story.

    21. I received my copy of this eBook for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. WOW! I wasn't expecting this![image error]I wouldn't call this a retelling of a Fairy Tale - there are aspects of The Little Mermaid absolutely, but this one stands on its own. I LOVED Kate! She was so sure of her fate, that she was the last mermaid and that she was going to die alone. Her attraction to Cooper is something that has been growing over time, and though this is a novella, the progress didn't feel fas [...]

    22. Oh goodness. This story brought the tears out. Something in Poppy's writing twisted my heart. All the feels were here. I felt the twing of sadness for the characters. One wants to live and the other as lived long enough. Poppy's writing style brought this all to life for me. Even in the end, with a HEA, I still teared up. Just a perfect sweet moment. If only everyone could have this moment. So well written to bring such emotions out in me. I can't even express the feels I had.****FULL REVIEW**** [...]

    23. Poppy Lawless presents a timeless novella that asks, “What would you sacrifice to save the one you love?” Ultimately I cannot answer that in this review for fear of giving away any spoilers. I can say the book and the characters are inspiring when it comes to both whimsical and earthy emotions. The blend of fairy tale, legend, family, and individualism spoke to me and caused a lot of nostalgic musings. The Glass Mermaid starts off a month into the plot, backtracking here and there to give a b [...]

    24. This was like a piece of cotton candy. The Glass Mermaid is sweet and has a romance that melts in your heart. It is a 77-page romance novella told in dual point of view. It is a clean read with only insinuation towards adult themes. It also heavily hints at character death. The Glass Mermaid is set in modern day in a small town that borders Lake Erie.“Mermaids’ tears carry the spark of life. I must have lost more than five-hundred years of life in the tears I shed for my people.”Kate is th [...]

    25. I read Poppy Lawless’ The Cupcake Witch, the second book in the Chancellor Fairy Tales series and loved it. I had to go back and read the first book, The Glass Mermaid. While I found The Cupcake Witch to be a sweet, magical romance, I found The Glass Mermaid to be heart-breakingly sad. Kate is the last of her kind and has lived 300 years with the guilt that she wasn’t able to save her family and her merman love. She’s losing her mermaid charm and magic and shedding one single tear could mea [...]

    26. I'm a mermaid at heart, so this mermaid romance short got my attention. This is a cute romance, a short and sweet novella, even if it is predictable. Without reading the blurb, which is spoilery already, you know quickly what is going to happen. As soon as Kate describes Cooper as having short hair, and he talks about his nausea, you know it is a Big C book. And the way Kate mentions many times how mermaid tears are a life force, well, we can figure out what she is going to do to help Cooper. An [...]
